Earlier this month, I blogged about the mystery gift and now I've been on it and come back from it I thought I'd share where I went with you all.
6th Septemeber 2023
Got up and left the house as close to 7.30 as we could and set out on our adventure. I still had no idea where we were going but when he mentioned greggs for breakfast I knew we were heading south. I'd been told to dress smart (which was very confusing)
Anyway, as we ventured further down the M4, I was getting more and more confused,éspecially as we passed the signs towards Gloucester, Hereford, The Cotswolds . We then headed over the bridge and with our 3 hour travel limit coming to an end , there were two choices left: Bristol or Bath. At this point, I had to ask and was told Bath.
Now, I've never been to Bath before and really couldnt work out what I was doing but I was spoilt, We had a day out at the races (that explains the dress) and it is something I've always wanted to do.
I would definieltey suggest a day at the races as a day out again - we had fun, we had VIP lounge access, a Pie and a Pint as part of the deal and the best weather ever. Plus some betting (it didn't go well), beer and best company.
After our day of losing, we then ventured back into Bath for food. I'd share pictures below but I didnt take any and by 10pm we were back in our hotel.
The next day, we wandered around Bath and did the sights (well not all of them we didnt go to the Roman Baths but that means we need to go back at some point).
We visited the Royal Crescent, the outside of the abbey, and wandered round town which got too hot and then we took a boat up the river to Bathampton with goregous scotch eggs and I had a pimms.
So the suprise birthday gift was the best ever.I didnt think we'd go to the races and that when I mentioned random stuff that I want to do, J listens and we get to have the best adventures.

What a fun day and a lovely surprise! x
