Side quest

So although my ACTUAL holiday starts on Wednesday today we are leaving Wales and off on side quest before the holiday. I love a side quest and I have been given an extra task which is to find lunch which is a lot less stressful than sorting parking. Anyway today we're off to Brighton to cheer up L, J's kinda step daughter. Its complicated they're actual relationship but for L and her sister W its just they have an extra person in their lives J. Everyone needs a J in their life obviously.   Lunch has been organised and when this goes live we'll possibly be hitting a motorway.   Pictures will definitely get posted over the next few days.

Childhood nicknames

I was listening to a podcast the other day in work whilst procrastinating writing minutes and the female host noted that her grandad called her a specific name. It struck a cord with me as I thought this was just a name that I had been given as a child by my dadcu (Welsh for grandad) but having done some research  Googling whilst writing this, it turns out its a common Welsh endearment. My nickname was Blodyn Tatws - or Potato Flower  I dont think I knew then what a Potato Flower looks like but its quite pretty although a very random term of endearment . Although my brother's was worse. His middle name is Wyn and I'm sure someone used to call him Chwyn which means Weed in Welsh ( not the smoking kind just the normal annoying in garden kind). Did you have any family nicknames? Ffi

Holiday Reads

Although I'm not going on a beach holiday there will be times where J and I will just need some peace from each other. Our Airbnb has a lovely little balcony so I'm imagining some wine/ beer and some time to read a book or two.  Now I tried to find a big book with lots of pages and one that will fit into either my cabin case or my new bag. I thought I'd spoil myself and buy a bag for the holidays so that I don't have to give J everything to carry (coz we know that happens), also being of fairer complexity I need to make sure I carry a coverup, plus we might be visiting a church or two so I do want to be covered for that. I haven't picked up the bag yet so will take a picture tomorrow, its from M&S so should be lovely. Anyway the two books I have for my holiday are here  The Bee Sting - Paul Murray This was suggested to me by a online book lovers Facebook group. It has 650 pages so should keep me going. Blurb about this book:  One of the greatest living comic no...

Holiday prep .. part 1

If you don't know or are new here you wont know that on Wednesday I'm going on holiday  This is my first holiday abroad since my mid teens because marriage, kids , divorce and all that meant I hadn't ventured out of the country. So after having booked my celebratory I'm 50 this year holiday last September and then finally in the last month finishing paying for. the Airbnb as well as getting my passport sorted in February we are at the final steps of getting things done. I've had to put a list together of what's to be done so here is where I am today.  Airport parking - after months of me stressing about this J has sorted it for loads cheaper than I though he would and this is now done. Window seat - this is my first ever flight so we've paid extra and booked a window seat for me. It does turn out that we are mostly flying over the sea but I guess there'll be a kind of view. Travel insurance - EHIC card sorted and individual insurance is being done today....
