As I mentioned previously not enough signal in Cornwall to do anything and although I've rewritten some of this, I'm always up for keeping most of it as is. Anything in italic will be brand new and probably written in a post holiday bluey haze..
Im writing this lying in bed in our cottage in Penzance. You could hear the seagulls earlier but they seemed to have stopped now.
We left Wales yesterday with the heavens opening and all it did for most of the journey through Wales was rain. It seemed like we went over the bridge and it slowed down but I guess that's what happens when Storm Antoni lands in August.
Going from West Wales to the Wild west of Cornwall takes forever so we took a stop half way (nope I know its not halfway but did I mention the rain) in Plymouth , J's home town.
It was very windy and walking through the Barbican to the marina side was gusty and those of us with hair saw not much.
We stopped for our lunch at a Plymouth legend cafe Captain Jasper's where the burgers are to die for. And really cheap too. Although it's very hard to eat a burger with chilli outside in the wind and the rain.
After a windy lunch with the rattle and howl of the wind through the masts we went to the Aquarium. Apparently I stopped writing here so will carry on.
Plymouth Aquarium is branded as the UKs largest Aquarium and it had lots of creatures present from seahorses to sharks to jellyfish and some fabulous coral that moved.
Having tried not to kill endless small kids who were in the way and Carys stamping the card (I mean she is 15 but it was free and kept her occupied although she did also take loads of photos) we had Aquariumed out.
We headed back to the car via a detour of random shops along the Barbican (Plymouth's old port of cobbled streets) and a visit to The Hoe. Both my kids thought the name was funny and giggled a alot but The Hoe is a public space next to the seafront in Plymouth where you can view both Drake's Island, the sound and the lighthouse. I love lighthouses but this one is not the original and has been moved to this position.
We then walked past Sir Francis Drakes statue and bowling green, got in the car and continued our journey south to Cornwall over the Tamar bridge.
